Teachers can provide one of the strongest, and most positive, role models children are exposed to. I applaud the AATF program for their work to expand the number of African American teachers in our local public schools.

AATF Fellows

Since August 2007, the following AATF Fellows have been employed in the schools, working toward graduation from college or taking post-graduate courses and tests to meet licensure requirements:

Deanna Mitchelson recently completed all requirements and obtained certification in Special Education at the secondary school level. She is teaching at Charlottesville High School.

Abigail Amoako graduated from the Curry School of Education in May and will be employed in the Charlottesville school system in Fall 2008.

AATF Fellows Patrice Harris Shelton, and Devin Terrell are employed in the Albemarle and Charlottesville public schools. Shanika Curry served as a long-term substitute.

Brandon Lee is a postgraduate Fellow who is teaching in the Albemarle County schools and working toward licensure.

There are two undergraduate Fellows: Shannon Copeland and Roberta Salisbury.
