Designation of Fellows

Fellows in School are either taking courses to complete their undergraduate work or have earned their degree and are working toward certification.  Some are teaching in addition to their coursework.  They are receiving financial assistance, leadership training, mentoring and academic support from AATF.

Meet all of our current Fellows here, as we grow to Twenty Fellows by 2012.

Teacher Fellows have graduated, are fully certified and are teaching in Charlottesville or Albemarle School Divisions. These Fellows are completing their forgivable obligations to AATF. (They are required to “pay back” by teaching in Charlottesville or Albemarle for a time equal to the amount of time they received financial support from the AATF program.)

AATF Alumni Fellows are Fellows who have completed their academic work, have obtained certification or licensure, have met all of their obligations to AATF and may be teaching in the Charlottesville/Albemarle school divisions or other school divisions in Virginia.

Alumni Abigail Amaoko Kayser, Deanna Mitchelson and Patrice Harris-Shelton are teaching currently in Charlottesville; Brandon Lee teaches at Jack Jouett in Albemarle county. Shanika Curry, Portia Lawrence, and Devin Terrell are alumni who have taught in Charlottesville/Albemarle school divisions. Roberta Salisbury is a teacher in Richmond, VA while Dannon Smith is teaching at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA. Khandice Williams, a UVA, Curry School graduate has returned to her hometown of Virginia Beach, VA and teaches 9th grade.

All Fellows retain their mentors throughout their first year of teaching.
